If you are concerned at all about your communication or your child’s speech and/or language development then consider contacting a speech pathologist. Research supports that children who receive early intervention have better outcomes than children who commence services when they are older. However, therapy is still beneficial for older children and adults.
We recommend you contact ACM or your local Speech Pathologist for support if you have concerns in the following areas:
- Making a limited amount of sounds.
- Having difficulty being understood.
- Having difficulty expressing needs and wants.
- Having difficulty following instructions and answering questions.
- Repeating, getting stuck on or stretching out words or sounds.
- Struggling with reading, spelling or writing.
- Having difficulty with initiating, joining in, sustaining conversations or making friends.
- Experiencing communication difficulties and diagnosed co-occurring neurodiverse conditions such as ADHD, Autism, OCD or Tourettes.
- Experiencing a hoarse, croaky or breathy voice quality.
