Our Lab Legends group uses collaborative activities and evidence based approaches to support the development of social interaction and collaboration in children. Children are grouped into teams with peers of a similar age to work cooperatively and engage in hands-on science experiments and activities. Each child has the opportunity to practice skills, such as listening, turn-taking, negotiation, sharing, problem-solving and working together in a supported environment.
The group will target skills including:
- Using hands on experiments and science themed activities as a medium to communicate and build relationships
- Promote social interaction & cooperation
- Promote collaborative play in a supported environment
- Practice following and giving directions, negotiation and compromise
- Foster collaborative problem-solving
- Encourage teamwork, flexible thinking and working towards a shared goal
